With regret, we note the passing, at the age of 85, of Mary Maples Dunn, the Society's co-Executive Officer from 2002–2007. Mary's New York Times obituary highlights her forty-plus-year career as an educator, academic administrator, and social activist. Her warmth and humor will be missed by her many friends and colleagues here at the Society.
The Dunn family has asked that gifts in Mary's memory be made to "The Mary Maples and Richard S. Dunn Fund at the American Philosophical Society." These dollars provide support for academic travel grants through the Society's Research Program.
