MICROFILM 1
A. EINSTEIN-P. EHRENFEST CORRESPONDENCE, 1915-33
J. A. Wheeler obtained these postcards and letters from Ehrenfest's widow, Tatiana Ehrenfest-Afanassjewa, and had them microfilmed without regard for chronological order. A list of datelines, in the sequence in which the materials were photographed, has been placed at the beginning of the microfilm. For a chronological listing see the "Einstein" article in Chapter II. The materials are, at present, held with the Einstein Collection at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, New Jersey.

Letters, postcards and telegrams from A. Einstein to P. Ehrenfest (77/155 in 1915-33).

H. A. KRAMERS CORRESPONDENCE AND MANUSCRIPTS
The following correspondence and manuscripts were obtained by L. Rosenfeld from H. A. Kramers' daughter, Miss Martien Kramers, Heerenstraat 16A, The Hague, The Netherlands. Brought to the Bohr Sekretariat in 1962, the correspondence was arranged by Fru E. Tanggaard under Rosenfeld's supervision and, subsequently, catalogued and microfilmed by Sources for History of Quantum Physics. This material remains at the Institute for Theoretical Physics, Copenhagen, Denmark, pending final arrangements. Additional Kramers material is described below (Microfilms 25-28).

MICROFILMS 25-28
H. A. KRAMERS NOTEBOOKS, NOTES AND DRAFTS
Except for the drafts of Werner Kuhn's paper, these Kramers materials were all obtained by J. L. Heilbron in the Netherlands in April, 1963. The Kramers notebooks were selected by Heilbron from among a large collection belonging to Miss Martien Kramers, Heerenstraat 16A, The Hague, and were taken to Copenhagen for microfilmin

A list of the additional notebooks left with Miss Kramers is photographed before the borrowed notebooks on Microfilms 25 and 26. These notebooks, together with a few interleaved papers photographed on Microfilms 27 and 28, were returned to her at The Hague. Most of the other papers on Microfilms 27 and 28 were received from Professor N. G. van Kampen and were returned to him at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, University of Utrecht, Utrecht, The Netherlands. The remainder were supplied by Dr. J. B ' Ubbink, Burgravenlaan 10, Leiden, The Netherlands. Further Kramers papers dating from the late 1930's (the de Sitter problem and the shape of the earth), the 1940s (Brownian movement, quantum electrodynamics), and the early 1950s (rotons, superconductivity, lecture notes in Dutch on classical topics) remain with van Kampen and were not microfilmed. The drafts of Werner Kuhn's "Intensität von Thallium-Absorptionslinien," [Naturwiss. (1925) ], with Kramers' comments (Microfilm 27, Section 17) were received from W. Kuhn in Basel in March, 1963, and were returned to him at the Physikalisch-Chemisches Institut der Universitdt Basel, Klingelbergstrasse 80, Basel, Switzerland.

MICROFILMS 21-23,29-34
A. SOMMERFELD LECTURES, SEMINARS, MANUSCRIPTS, AND CORRESPONDENCE
Approximately one-third of these materials, including most of the lecture notes, were received from Professor Fritz Bopp in Munich in February, 1963. The other two-thirds were received from A. Sommerfeld's son, Dr.-Ing. Ernst Sommerfeld, in several installments between December, 1962, and April, 1963, initially with Dr. Paul Rosbaud of Undon as intermediary. Since the materials from these two sources were in some degree complementary, they were integrated for microfilming. The materials lent by F. Bopp were returned to him at the Institute of Theoretical Physics of Munich University, Munich, Germany, and those lent by E. Sommerfeld were returned to him at Dunantstrasse 6, Munich 23, Germany.

MICROFILM 36
C. G. DARWIN PAPERS AND P. A. M. DIRAC PAPERS
The C. G. Darwin materials on Sections 1-5 of this film are all those found by Lady Darwin when preparing to leave the family home in Cambridge following Sir Charles' death. They were received in May, 1963, and after microfilming were forwarded, on Lady Darwin's instructions, to the American Philosophical Society, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for permanent deposit.

P. A. M. Dirac selected for microfilming the materials on Sections 6-12 from a larger collection of notes and papers at his home, 7 Cavendish Avenue, Cambridge, England. They were received in May, 1963, and returned to Prof. Dirac after filming. For other Dirac materials see Microfilms 59 and 77.
