The Clay Studio, founded in 1974, is a preeminent space where artists from across the country cultivate their careers, and where people of all ages and walks of life can discover and nurture their creativity through clay. The Clay Studio engages the community through classes, dynamic exhibitions, studio space for artists, and a mobile arts program.

The Clay Studio is a preeminent space where artists from across the country and around the world cultivate their careers. We are a vital, perennial resource for local schoolchildren. And we are a welcoming family where people from all walks of life discover and nurture their creativity. We are artists and makers, teachers and students, innovators and visionaries.

The American Philosophical Society, the oldest learned society in the United States, was founded in 1743 by Benjamin Franklin for the purpose of “promoting useful knowledge.” In the 21st century we sustain this mission through our Members, publications, grants, library, and museum.
