The fourth 2024-2025 Indigenous Learning Forum will take place December 05, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. ET on Zoom. This talk will be given in English with Spanish translation.  

This event is open to all but registration is required.

Professor Annemarie Gillies is a New Zealand Māori academic, and is Professor of Māori Research at the Eastern Institute of Technology. Professor Gillies is from the Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Awa, Te Whānau a Apanui and Te Arawa first nations of Aotearoa, including Ngā Hapū o Waimārama. She has extensive research utilising Kaupapa Māori (Māori methodologies) practices, and has a long established health, business and management academic background.

Dr. Xavier Forde comes from the Ngāti Huia, Raukawa, & Ngāti Toa Rangatira First Nations of Aotearoa New Zealand and works to support tribal projects that revitalise Māori traditional knowledge. He is an adjunct senior research fellow at Te Kotahi Research Institute, University of Waikato, delivering research and capacity building initiatives that support the aspirations of Indigenous communities. Xavier currently chairs the international Indigenous Heritage Working Group of ICOMOS, and seeks to collaborate with other First Nations for solutions that increase self-determination over their heritage places around the world.
