A picture is worth a thousand words, it can also hold many stories.

Join us on Tuesday, June 18th for “Unearthing Stories: Sketching Splendor Spotlight”! In this flashtalk, we’ll be unearthing some hidden histories and figures found in the objects of our Sketching Splendor exhibition. In the 18th and 19th centuries, natural historians relied on the unacknowledged expertise and labor of people of African descent. Their contributions are often concealed, but we can glean some of their stories when we look a little closer.

We hope you can join us for this quick flash talk, activities, and of course the exhibition. Sketching Splendor: American Natural History, 1750-1850 will be open after the talk.
