Abstract
This guide is a master listing of nearly every recording held by the American Philosophical Society.

Scope and content
While this listing does include some video recordings, the vast majority of materials are audio. Many of these recordings were separated from manuscript collections during processing and include references to those parent collections. Although this guide is format-based and includes a diverse array of subjects, the majority of materials concern Native American languages.

Arrangement
Recordings are arranged according to an arbitrarily assigned recording number. Each recording number represents a collection that may contain one or more physical media objects, often in multiple formats.

Administrative information
Restrictions
Several recordings have access restrictions, which are noted in the individual listing in the inventory.

Processing information
Katelyn Wolfrom transferred this data from a card catalogue in July 2008.
